Julian qualified as a solicitor in 1991 and with 29 years’ post-qualification experience, Associate Solicitor Julian handles severe, catastrophic and fatal injury claims, including those involving acquired brain injury and serious orthopaedic injuries. In the past he has represented claimants and their estates in pursuing compensation for serious, life-threatening and terminal asbestos-related conditions.

He currently runs a sizeable catastrophic injury and acquired brain injury caseload, some of which are worth well into the millions. He is mindful of the vital importance and benefits of timely multi – disciplinary rehabilitation following injury.

He has plentiful experience of brain injury cases requiring court approval and is experienced with the involvement of the Court of Protection and Deputies. Summary of recent cases: 

RTA Severe Brain Injury/ Value : £2 million net

The Claimant suffered a severe brain injury  when as a cyclist he wasknocked over by the Defendant’s car. The Claimant was rendered incapable of managing his affairs and a Deputy was appointed. The case was settled on a split liability basis and the settlement required Court approval in the High Court of Justice in London.

RTA| Severe Orthopaedic injuries and a mild brain injury / Value:  £1.87 million
Claimant sustained a severe leg and other orthopaedic injuries and a mild brain injury arising from a motorcycle accident.  He was left with life changing disabilities rendering him unlikely ever to work and dependent upon others.

RTA Severe Orthopaedic injuries / Value:  £400,000
Claimant suffered a head-on collision on a motorway when the Defendant travelling in the opposite direction breached the central reservation and drove onto the claimant’s side of the road. The Claimant suffered serious orthopaedic injuries which interrupted her career and was left with permanent residual symptoms.

RTA Severe Brain injury / Value : £399,000 gross

The Claimant pedestrian was knocked over while crossing the road and suffered  a moderate to severe brain injury as well as significant orthopaedic  injuries. Her dementia was brought forward by about 4 years due to the brain injury. A Deputy was appointed because the claimant could not manage her affairs.

RTA Severe ankle injury / Value : £300,000  gross

The Claimant driver suffered a head-on collision with the Defendant’s vehicle which was speeding  and went through a red light.

RTA Serious facial Scarring/ Value: £250,000

The Claimant, a minor, suffered serious facial injuries resulting in significant  scarring when the vehicle he was travelling in went out of control and crashed. The matter was referred to the High Court for approval of the settlement figure.
