Unacceptable living conditions

The case:

Our client lived in a rented 2-bedroom property with their 2 children.

A missing tile on the roof of the property caused an active leak through the loft into the bedroom resulting in mould on the walls and water damage to the bed, mattress and carpet. The second bedroom and bathroom also showed evidence of mould caused by both the leak and the absence of an extractor fan in the bathroom.

The family were forced to live and sleep in the living room and were all suffering with coughs from the damp.

How we helped:

True were successful in recovering £1,200 in compensation for the client and as the ceiling was at risk of immediate collapse if any more water was to get into the ceiling, we also managed to get him and his family decanted out of the property for their safety while all the repairs are carried out.
