Supermarket warehouse accident

The case:

Our client worked in the warehouse of a well-known supermarket. Having loaded a pallet with stock, she proceeded to transport the pallet via a lollop around a corner into one of the aisles.

The space required between the aisles to manoeuvre safely should have been 3 aisles wide, however on this occasion, due to stock being stored in the aisle, the space proved to be too narrow. As our client tried to turn into the aisle, the pallet she was transporting hit a pile of stock and she fell from the lollop she was operating.

The lollop itself had landed on her foot and was eventually moved after a short period of time by another truck. Our client suffered from bruising and an undisplaced fracture to the 5th metatarsal in her left ankle, directly caused by the crushing during the accident, resulting in the wearing of a supportive shoe and the use of crutches.

Despite initially denying liability, following our investigations and determination her employers ultimately admitted that they were negligent in failing to provide a safe system of work.

The client received just over £6,000 in compensation for her injuries and stated “True solicitors did everything they could to win my case and treated me with kindness and respect throughout the whole experience.”
