Housing Disrepair compensation of £6,000

The case:

In 2022, we accepted a new case for a client suffering from a serious medical condition living in a property in a severe state of disrepair with her young children.

The roof of the property she inhabited was entirely missing, covered only with plastic sheeting.  Further issues with the property included water leaks through the bedroom ceiling rendering it unusable, gaping holes and water leaks from the upstairs toilet sewage pipes through the living room ceiling causing damp patches and mould on the windows, and a blocked kitchen sink prone to flooding.

How we helped:

True were successful in compelling the landlord to carry out the required repairs to the property whilst our client was relocated to alternative accommodation and sought compensation for the distress suffered as a result of the disrepair.
