The case:
Our client was travelling in his vehicle on his way to see a friend. As he approached a blind summit, two motorbikes were oncoming on the wrong side of the road and collided head on with our client’s vehicle.
The impact of the collision forced the car bonnet up, striking the windscreen and shattering it and the car sustained extensive damage and was later written off.
Sadly, one of the motorcyclists died at the scene and the second was seriously injured and air lifted to hospital.
How we helped:
Our client suffered from superficial cuts inflicted from the broken glass, a broken nose and soft tissue damage to his neck and lower back. His injuries required multiple sessions of physiotherapy, osteopathic treatment and nerve root injections.
He was diagnosed by medical experts with myofascial syndrome. He was left with permanent back and leg pain and unable to return to work.
Whilst he was in his early 60s when the accident happened, he had a well paid job as an interior designer which boosted the settlement. He relied on close family members to care for him as he adapted to his disability and to take over some of the jobs around the home such as cooking and gardening. He had to employ external contractors to undertake home improvements.
Compensation was agreed at £175,000.
