On a beautiful sunny Thursday, 16 members of our team, together with our friends at NE1, took part in the first volunteering activity of 2025.

In conjunction with some of the team at Newcastle Castle, who kindly showed us around the historical building and took a team photo on the roof overlooking the river Tyne and the iconic Tyne Bridge, we set out to clean up the streets of the city centre.

We spent a warm 3 hours working our way around the castle grounds and right along the scenic quayside collecting many items of rubbish.  A bigger team of volunteers this time meant we could cover much more ground and we filled more than 40 sacks of rubbish in total weighing an impressive 600 kgs, with the strangest  finds being numerous items of scaffolding, a wheelchair and sets of wheels hidden in bushes.

Well done to all the team who take part and made a difference to the area we work in.
