Andrew Milnes

Managing Partner and Financial Director

Andrew is a Chartered Accountant who joined TRUE in 2014, after spending 12 years at a large independent firm of Accountants in Leeds.

Andrew brings with him a wealth of experience in financial reporting, management, taxation and audit, skills which have proven invaluable to the firm. As the firm’s COFA, he has a key compliance role for TRUE, ensuring that the firm protects our clients’ money and is compliant with the Solicitors Accounts Rules. He also ensures the firm is on track with its financial projections, and plays an important role in planning the future strategy for the firm.

In 2023, Andrew was appointed Managing Partner.

He is a keen cyclist, but as a father of two young children, he doesn’t get out as much as he used to!

Kieran Magee

Partner - Business Development and Training

Kieran is Head of Business Development and Training at TRUE Solicitors LLP.

TRUE Solicitors LLP, head quartered in Newcastle upon Tyne, advises clients on personal injury law, financial mis-selling, consumer law and conveyancing.

Kieran’s legal career spans over 30 years and started in 1983 when he took a position as an outdoor clerk at national law firm Wansbroughs Willey Hargrave.

Kieran joined national firm Russell Jones and Walker and later Leeds firm Ison Harrison in 1992. He was instrumental in establishing their Road Traffic Accident department which rapidly grew in size under his leadership. Whilst employed by the firm he decided to complement his vocational skills with formal qualifications; he studied and eventually passed the ILEX exams before embarking on the solicitor qualifications. He obtained the CPE and LPC qualifications by correspondence, the former from the De Montford University in Leicester in 2001, the latter from the College of Law in York in 2004. Kieran qualified as a solicitor in November 2004.

Kieran joined Gorman Hamilton Solicitors, now TRUE Solicitors LLP, in 2000 to establish their Leeds office. He was appointed salaried partner in 2007.

From 2007 to 2018 he was a member of the Management Committee of the Motor Accident Solicitors’ Society (MASS) as Regional Co-ordinator for the Yorkshire region. Kieran was also the MASS representative for The Financial Conduct Authority Management Regulatory Consultative Group.

Andrew heads both the Serious Injury department, dealing with claims for injuries of the utmost severity, and the Employer’s Liability/Occupiers Liability department, dealing with accidents both in the workplace and elsewhere.

He leads a large team of very able lawyers, who use their expertise to succeed in difficult cases which other, less specialist, firms are unwilling to take on. At any given point, the Serious Injury team represents hundreds of clients across England and Wales who have suffered life changing, often catastrophic injuries.

Caroline Houghton

Partner - Housing Disrepair, First Response and Operations Manager

Caroline started our Portal team from scratch back in 2015.  She is now the Partner for Housing Disrepair, one of the fastest growing areas within TRUE.   In addition to this, Caroline is a key member of the business development team too, bringing in several major accounts. She is also the key contact for a number of the firm’s suppliers, including medical agencies, engineers, introducers. and surveyors and has close involvement in the annual recruitment of paralegals.

Dean Auld

Partner - HR

Dean qualified as a solicitor in 1993 and has been with the firm since 1996 and a Partner since 1998. During his time with True Solicitors LLP Dean has handled a large number of Personal Injury Claims, managed a number of Personal Injury teams, established and managed a branch office in the South East of England and set up the firms Residential Conveyancing department. Dean currently has responsibility for the firms’ Human Resources team.

Karen qualified as a solicitor in 1998. Her experience, gained with over more than 26 years in the True Solicitors LLP team, combined with her personable nature creates a balanced and trusted advocate. As well as leading TRUE’s clinical negligence team, she also has an active caseload of significant injury cases covering road traffic, employment and public liability cases. Karen understands that patience, as well as a steely determination to get the job done, is required for her team’s clients.

Paul qualified as a solicitor in 1997 and joined TRUE Solicitors in 2001. He leads a team handling personal injury claims on behalf of claimants, particularly those injured in road accidents. He has acted for clients in a wide range of cases, including difficult liability cases and complex high value claims. Paul, a keen cyclist himself, also has a particular interest in representing and supporting victims of cycle accidents.

Paul has also been involved lobbying the Government on behalf of injured claimants in relation to the personal injury reforms and has written extensively on this subject.

Furthermore, Paul is head of our Financial Mis-selling department, specialising in the mis-selling of solar panels and SIPP pensions.

Richard also oversees TRUE’s branding and marketing activities and works closely with the firm’s Marketing Manager to attract new clients through various channels.

Steve qualified as a solicitor in 1994. Part of Steve’s role is to make key decisions relating to which cases should be pursued and which shouldn’t. In this capacity, Steve protects the firm’s great reputation and manages the expectations of TRUE’s clients.

Steve is involved in the general management of the firm, advising on matters of legal compliance.

Richard qualified as a solicitor in 1999. Since then he has been winning millions of pounds for hundreds of clients. Nikki previously served in the Women’s Royal Naval Service as an Aircraft Engineer. Having qualified as a Legal Executive in 2002, then a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 2007, Nikki has over 20 years’ experience representing Claimants who have sustained personal injury, as a result of suffering from an industrial disease; an accident at work; a public liability accident; an accident involving an animal or being involved in a road traffic accident. Nikki recently appeared on the TV series, Northern Justice, where she successfully represented a young Claimant who sustained injury whilst at work, after being thrown from a horse, despite the Defendant denying responsibility.  Nikki’s engineering background assists in her understanding of claims involving a technical or engineering issue.

Helen Wainwright

Associate Solicitor

Helen qualified as a solicitor in 1994 and has since exclusively represented clients injured in accidents. She specialises in high value claims involving all types of serious injuries including amputations, brain injuries and fatalities. Helen recently secured a compensation award of £5.3 million at the Royal Courts of Justice in London for a severely brain damaged client which show the real efforts of the TRUE Solicitors LLP team.

Julian qualified as a solicitor in 1991 and with 29 years’ post-qualification experience, Associate Solicitor Julian handles severe, catastrophic and fatal injury claims, including those involving acquired brain injury and serious orthopaedic injuries. The Claimant driver suffered a head-on collision with the Defendant’s vehicle which was speeding  and went through a red light.

Alix also completed a master’s degree in Medical Law at the University of Northumbria and works exclusively in the Clinical Negligence Department dealing with a variety of claims including birth trauma cases, catastrophic injuries, misdiagnosis of cancer and orthopaedic claims.

Kieran Magee

Kieran is Head of Sales at TRUE Solicitors LLP.

TRUE Solicitors LLP, head quartered in Newcastle upon Tyne, advises clients on personal injury law, financial mis-selling, consumer law and conveyancing.

Kieran’s legal career spans over 30 years and started in 1983 when he took a position as an outdoor clerk at national law firm Wansbroughs Willey Hargrave.

Kieran joined national firm Russell Jones and Walker and later Leeds firm Ison Harrison in 1992. He was instrumental in establishing their Road Traffic Accident department which rapidly grew in size under his leadership. Whilst employed by the firm he decided to complement his vocational skills with formal qualifications; he studied and eventually passed the ILEX exams before embarking on the solicitor qualifications. He obtained the CPE and LPC qualifications by correspondence, the former from the De Montford University in Leicester in 2001, the latter from the College of Law in York in 2004. Kieran qualified as a solicitor in November 2004.

Kieran joined Gorman Hamilton Solicitors, now TRUE Solicitors LLP, in 2000 to establish their Leeds office. He was appointed salaried partner in 2007 .

From 2007 to 2018 he was a member of the Management Committee of the Motor Accident Solicitors’ Society (MASS) as Regional Co-ordinator for the Yorkshire region. Kieran was also the MASS representative for The Financial Conduct Authority Claims Management Regulatory Consultative Group.
